There’s hope that Rhode Island online casinos will become a reality in the near future. The State of RI is home to a number of land-based casinos, and also legally offers online horse racing, fantasy sports, sports betting, and bingo games.

So it’s not above the realms of possibility that some form of online casino gambling RI legislation will be approved at some point. What do we know so far about RI casinos? Well, poker is not allowed anywhere online. You won’t find a poker room in an online casino if you’re a resident of Rhode Island. However, Twin Rivers Casino do offer a poker room offering cash prizes, as do other casinos in New England.

Sports betting regulations have only recently been passed, though these rules don’t apply to online betting just yet. It’s likely that there will be a move towards passing laws authorizing both online RI sports betting and Rhode Island online casinos together.

The State has passed laws to allow their residents to join up and play fantasy sports and games of skill, along with horse and greyhound racing, at a number of online bookmakers.

For now, though, there aren’t any Rhode Island online casinos you can legally play at for real money. There are no real money sites you can legally sign up to either.

There are currently no ‘real-money’ online casinos you can bet on in the State of Rhode Island. It might be possible for you to play a range of casino games and slots online in other parts of New England, but for now, the act is prohibited.

You can, though, play for free at some online casinos in the Ocean State. For example, you can play Slots at Twin River online. No money is exchanged, though. Instead, you play for Credits which cannot be exchanged for real money and can only be used to play at the casino’s website.

Newport Grand Casino

Newport Grand Casino closed its doors for the final time in August 2018. Known for their fantastic range of slots, Newport Grand has made way for Tiverton Casino Hotel, who we’ll discuss shortly.

Newport Grand opened in 1976 and was a huge part of the social and cultural gambling in New England scene. Unfortunately, Twin Rivers Management Group assessed that this much-loved casino should close, and opened Tiverton Casino nearby.

Tiverton Casino Hotel

Opened in September 2018, Twin Rivers Tiverton Casino Hotel offers state-of-the-art facilities. The new casino features an 85,000 casino floor, where patrons can take part in table games, slots and more.

Sports betting is also being discussed by the casino Providence RI management team, with a view to legal sports betting being introduced in the next few months.

Twin River Casino

Possibly the most famous casinos in New England, Twin River started life as a racetrack. Previously known as Lincoln Greyhound Park, the land was sold and developed before Twin River came into existence in 2007.

The facility now boasts 160,000 square feet of casino floor, incorporating video slots and video table games. There are also over 100 live table games, featuring favorites such as Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat and Craps. It’s also possible to play poker games for cash at this Lincoln RI casino.

Currently, Twin River Casino also offers its customers a free to play online casino, where players can play online slots, table games and poker using credits. Players are offered 5,000 credits as a welcome bonus when they sign up. More credits can be purchased online using a credit or debit card.

Rhode Island Online Casinos

There are currently only two open land-based casinos in Rhode Island. Other States in New England surrounding RI are pushing forward with plans to offer a wider choice of land-based casinos, and passing legislation to provide an online service.

This means that Rhode Island residents might be tempted to take their gambling to nearby States. One way that RI can stop this and keep finances in State is by offering online casino play.

2019 could be the year that online betting legislation is finally passed. We’ll keep you updated with the latest Rhode Island online casino news here.

Rhode Island Casino Apps

There are no Rhode Island online casino apps available for download just now. Once the specific legislation has been passed, and Rhode Island online casinos open for business, expect to see most of these casinos to release some form of mobile betting.

Most online casinos in other States offer mobile play, whether that be in the form of a downloadable app or access to the site via the browser on a mobile device. Rhode Island online casinos are more than likely to offer the same.

Expect mobile apps to be available on iOS and Android operating systems. There may be a need to download additional software, such as a dedicated poker app, but generally, you should have full access to your online casino account from the RI app.

It’s likely, though, that sports betting will be offered online before casino games. The Bill presented by Dominick Ruggerio, the Senate President, include sports betting both online and via a mobile app.

The Bill also states that bettors would be required to sign up to one of Rhode Island’s land-based casinos that currently offer sports in person. Then, an online app would be available to them.

The same could apply to Rhode Island online casino apps too. Of course, there’s a long way to go before any regulations are passed into law, so this could change.

For now, though, no mobile play or online betting is legally available for Rhode Island residents.
